James Tarver, Ph.D is the Associate Director in the Medicinal Chemistry department at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals.

He attended Morehouse where he double majored in mathematics and chemistry and completed his doctorate degree in organic chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a UNCF-Dissertation Fellowship focusing his research on natural products total synthesis.
